Goin’ Out of my Head

November 24, 2008 Leave a comment Go to comments

I thought the election would bring my obsession to an end, but it hasn’t. Little Anthony and the Imperials captured my state well in their great 1964 hit Goin’ Out of my Head. Lyrics below (slightly adjusted, and with apologies to Teddy Randazzo – Bobby Weinstein):

Well, I think I’m goin’ out of my head
Yes, I think I’m goin’ out of my head
Over you, Over you
I want you to go ‘way,
I hate you so badly
I can’t think of anything but you

And I think I’m goin’ out of my head
Yes, I think I’m goin’ out of my head
Over you, Over you

And I think I’m goin’ out of my head
’cause I can’t explain the tears that I shed over you, over you
I read all about you
And you just keep talkin’
I can’t even bear that you exist

Goin’ out of my head over you
Out of my head over you Out of my head day and night
Night and day and night, Wrong or right

I must think of a way to change your heart
There’s no reason why
You always lie
And keep us apart
And I think I’m goin’ out of my head
Yes, I think I’m goin’ out of my head

Goin’ out of my head over you
Out of my head over you Out of my head day and night
Night and day and night, Wrong or right
Night and day and night
Wrong or right, day or night
everyday, every, every day
